Jim Carrey did a commencement speech at Maharishi University (which is a super cool and “consciousness-based” university in Iowa )… So of course it’s fitting to have a super cool and consciousness-loving actor give an awesome commencement speech.

If you haven’t already watched his speech, check it out and ‘thank good’ for laughter.

Wasn’t that great? And the painting was awesome too. I love how  Jim discusses the various characters – particularly the ‘hollow one’ that doesn’t want to be left behind. It’s an incredibly powerful character/point because some of us really do that…don’t we?  We don’t want to go further for fear of who we will leave behind ‘feeling less than’ and so we keep ourselves small. But like Marianne Williamson says here, there is “nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you”.  And by shrinking, Marianne means being anything less than a magnificent child of God.

My favorite line in the speech?

I also loved when he said: “Because everything you gain in life will rot and fall apart and all that will be left of you is what was in your heart”.

And the discussion at 14:18  was pretty spot-on. He was able to do something that made people present their best selves to him… very powerful (& gooooood) stuff.

PS: What Oprah learned from Jim Carrey.

PSS: Jim is a big science+spirituality fan.  Remember when he called Stephen Hawking while on Conan? Well…
