Okay so I might be very late to the game here, but I LOVE the show: “CBS Sunday Morning”! My brother, Patrick, mentioned how much he liked CBS Sunday Morning ~ that he watched it nearly every Sunday morning & that it became a tradition of sorts…So thanks Pat because…
I watched one episode and now I’m forever in love with the show & its host, Charles Osgood.
Charles ~ who reminds me of a charming, calming + sweet grandpa ~ provides the perfect tone for the show. He even wears a bowtie! The stories are just wonderful ~ a little nostalgic, a little off-beat infused with delightful tidbits of information +tradition and surprise. Old or new, witty or serious ~ it’s simply story-time goodness contained into a fleeting hour and a half…
Sometimes big events are discussed (like the Oscars or elections). Or maybe something totally random like the monkeys below↓. Perhaps Jack Black will be interviewed or even just “the girl in the picture”…
But aside from the delightful stories and my beloved adopted-grandpa (Osgood), I just ADORE the show’s “trumpet” theme song. And I also love how ~ after the conclusion of a story & the trumpet is cued ~ they always showcase a different type of sun. Sometimes in relation to the covered story ~ sometimes not… It’s really the little things in life right? UPDATE: I just learned that some of the sun images come from the viewers themselves! How cute! So if you’re an artist or just came across a cool sun you would like to submit, read more about how to submit such here.
I highly suggest watching it while you make Sunday breakfast… You will feel a bit more comforted, a bit more wise ~ and a bit more prepared for the week.
In short, here’s why It’s Good To Watch: CBS Sunday Morning: The adorable Charles Osgood who wears a bowtie & sometimes reads a poem or plays piano! The trumpet theme song. The offbeat, compelling, nostalgic + fun stories! Mo Rocca! The focus on nature, interesting people, and new or old music+ film! The relevant, fresh and unique stories! The wise sentiments. The CBS Sunday Morning ‘traditions’: The Week-Ahead”,“This & That” and the “Final Farewell” segments…
ONE MAN’S MUSEUM OF LOVE FOR HIS LATE WIFE (This will make you cry!)
JON STEWART TAKES A FINAL BOW! (Interview by MO ROCCA of course!)
A TRULY TALENTED CAVE-DIGGING ARTIST & HIS “FRESH WONDER”… (Simply awe-inspiring!)
THE HISTORY OF GROUNDHOG DAY (So interesting!)
A BEAUTIFUL PIECE ON POLAR BEARS (Magical & sad.)
THE HISTORY OF MOVIE “TRAILERS” (So cool! PS: Osgood wasn’t hosting because he was having knee surgery.)
AND PAUL REISER PUTTING A DAMPER ON VALENTINE’S DAY (So funny!)
JAPAN’S SNOW MONKEYS! ( Is this not so relaxing? I love it!)
A BACKSTORY ON THE BAND: ALABAMA SHAKES! (So lovely + fun!)
I also completely ADORE the “WEEK AHEAD” segment wherein Osgood will tell you what to expect in the week ahead (maybe it’s the 100th anniversary of something, someone’s birthday or an important day (World Wildlife Day). As well as the “FINAL FAREWELL” segment…
CBS Sunday Morning airs every Sunday at 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM (EST)… Here’s their YouTube channel so you can check out more of their stuff….This is their website. And here’s the full list of air times for your specific area/region.
PS: Charles singing: “I’ll BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS” on the piano…
PSS: I think I just uncovered why it’s so cool + amazing: IT’S FROM THE 70s! It first aired in 1979… Groovy.
